Water Droplets

While I am in need of a macro lens, I can still get pretty close up pictures. It's been raining on and off today, and I took these pictures while there was a lag in it (Getting your camera wet is definitely not good) I thought they turned out pretty well, don't you think?

Photo Contest!

Ok....
I'm a very impatient person; I hate waiting for anything!
So, because of that, I've decided to go ahead and have the photo contest!

The theme is Fall; what, to you, means fall? Pretty leaves, acorns, etc.
The contest will end October 1 at 12 PM, Eastern time (North America). I'll then post the results on the 3rd.
You will can enter up to four pictures, and they can be edited or left plain. Just post the links in the comments!
Also, spread the word and take the button on my side bar to put on your blog!
There will be a first, second, and third place winner; I'll also pick five honorable mentions!

And, since a post wouldn't be complete without a photo,

!THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED!

...And Again...

Ok, so I wasn't really a fan of my name switch, so I got my Mom's permission to use my middle name instead, Christine.

Something Beautiful Photo Contest

Rachel's having another photo contest! The theme is flowers and you're supposed to tell how you edited them. Just so I don't have to repeat myself, all the pictures will be edited in PSE8 So, here are my entries:

Ok, this one I ran an action on that I got from CoffeShop (see blog list on the side) called Autum Glow. After that, I flattened the image, added my watermark, and flattened it again.

I didn't do anything to this one except add the watermark

I used the quick selection tool to highlight the isolate the bloom and leaf, and then selected the inverse. I then desaturated it a bit, and selected in the inverse again, so I was back to where I started. I saturated the bloom a bit more, and then deselected it. I tweaked the levels a bit, and added my watermark.

This one's a bit longer.
First, I tweaked the levels. Then I duplicated my main image, set the layer to multiply, and merged the two. I then duplicated the layer again and used Gaussian Blur on the duplicate at 20%. I then set the blurry image to 50% opacity. I then duplicated the blurry layer and set the layer on screen, at 50%. The effect of the multiply, which darkens, and the screen, which lightens, gives you the light bloom dark background look. The blurring gives it a somewhat surreal look that works really well with glowers. Finally, I flattened the image, added my watermark, and flattened again.

A Drought!

I need to apologize for the drought of pictures lately! I've been feeling quite uninspired of late, and haven't taken many pictures. Any suggestions for photo subjects?
